IV's and Bruises

Tomorrow I will have started the 4th week of Paramedic school, and I can say it looks like I have a drug addiction. I have bruises starting from my biceps down to my knuckles. Within 2 inches of my ante-brachial vein I have 3 sticks. I PROMISE I am not a drug addict. At least I hope not.

In the past 3 weeks we have learned more then my brain can handle. I have learned ECG rhythms. If any of you have ever had to do this you know, you know how terrible it is. The struggle is real! Really Real, but I think I am starting to get the hang of it. I have learned how my teacher parasympathetic nervous system works after thanksgiving. I have learned no matter how much you stare at your textbooks the information will not just transfer over to your brain, no matter how much you want it to. I have even tried smacking my head against it to see if that would work, and no it doesn't, don't try it at home.

I have also learned how much friends can help. I have a great group that I study with and they keep me going. I have a great group of roommates that help to let me relax after a long day of classes.

Food: I am not really sure what that is. After being in class and labs for 9+ hours not able to eat because you are to busy to   So when you get home the last thing you want to do is make food even though your stomach is trying to kill you. You would think that I would have lost some of my protective coating but ya know I cant make those skinny girls think better about them selves.

Working out: You would think that putting IV's in would be a workout. When you are fishing and struggling to get the vein but its not a work out. Dang it! We do work out though. My roommates are great at going with me. They hate me for making them do hard ab workouts but it is good for us. I love the ability that I have to have a well functioning body. God has blessed me with a  body and I need to take better care of it.

Overall: I love being in this program. We just found out that our program is #2 in the country right after George Washington University! WHOOT! Although it is hard and I have no life away from it, I am so grateful for this opportunity! I am thankful for my friends and family, and teachers for all that they do and the patience that they have.

On to week 4!!! And these are from last Monday!
